This isn’t desirable because bootc delivers by default a bootc-fetch-apply-updates.service service that will periodically check if a new image is available and automatically switch to it to keep the system up to date (it’s a systemd timer that runs every 4 hours by default and will launch the bootc upgrade --apply --quiet command).
